Today, we conducted a lockdown drill at Tonopah Valley High School to ensure our preparedness in case of a real emergency. I want to assure you that there was no real threat, and everyone is safe. It's important to speak to your students about today's drill to help them process the experience. Here are a few tips: 1. **Reassure Them:** Let them know that drills like these are practiced to keep everyone safe. 2. **Listen:** Encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings about the drill. Validate their emotions and provide support. 3. **Explain:** Help them understand the purpose of the drill and why preparedness is important. 4. **Practice Calmness:** Remain calm and composed to help them feel safe and secure. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring the safety of our students and staff. Laura Bowden Principal Tonopah Valley High School

GEAR UP took a group of students to tour Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff yesterday. They also quickly stopped by Coconino Community College so students could see that college can be attainable by starting at a community college first and then completing their degree at a university.
