Dear TVHSFamilies,

I am writing to inform you of an important event that occurred on our campus this morning. Earlier today, we welcomed the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) and their drug-sniffing dogs for a routine sweep of our school grounds.

Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority at Tonopah Valley HS. As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a drug-free environment and to uphold a secure learning environment, we collaborate with law enforcement agencies to conduct periodic sweeps of our campus.

The presence of the MCSO and their drug-sniffing dogs is a proactive measure aimed at deterring the presence of illegal substances on our premises. These sweeps help us identify and address any potential issues related to substance abuse, thereby fostering a safer and healthier educational environment for all students and staff.

We want to emphasize that these sweeps are conducted in a manner that respects the privacy and dignity of our students. The MCSO officers and their canine units are trained professionals who adhere to strict protocols during their inspections.

While we are confident in the safety and security of our campus, we recognize the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in addressing potential concerns. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in supporting our efforts to maintain a safe and drug-free learning environment.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding today's sweep or our school's safety procedures, please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of our administrative team.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in ensuring the well-being of all members of our school community.

Sincerely,

Laura Bowden

Principal, TVHS
